New York Is Always A Good Idea

"I like the feeling of being anonymous in a big city. No one knows me, so it's easier to remember who I am". -Unknown

I wish I knew the author of that quote, because they were able to summarize my entire New York trip with just that. I will admit, I have never been comfortable enough with myself to be alone. Not to be confused with being able to do things for myself, because that's not the issue. I'm not the kind to roam aimlessly, with no purpose. Then New York happened.

Something about New York changed my outlook on life. It's one of the reasons I started this blog actually. I finally decided that while being a homebody is comfortable and safe, it's time to start living my life. I have finally discovered this sense of independence; I am invincible! okay, maybe not. There are so many people in the city, and everyone is just in their own little world. It's a place of no judgement, unlike where I'm currently residing.

So now on to the details of the trip! June is the perfect time to visit New York, not that I've ever visited during any other time of the year. The weather was in the mid-70's, which is heaven compared to the Texas heat that I'm used to. I was only there for 4 days, so I had to make it count. I ate more food in those few days than I normally do in a whole week! Ya'll have to check out: Luke's Lobster, OleaLady M, Morimoto, Ippudo, Lombardi's, and Wafels & Dinges.

We also did a lot of sightseeing, since it was my first visit. We went to Times Square, Rockefeller Center, the Staten Island Ferry, Brooklyn Bridge, the Guggenheim, and Central Park just to name a few. It still amazes me that a gigantic park is preserved within a concrete jungle. You are able to find peace and quiet though you're surrounded by craziness.

Lodging: We stayed at the Omni Berkshire Hotel which is located at 52nd and Madison. The location of the hotel was perfect, considering it was in midtown Manhattan. The area is surrounded by high end shopping, which I surprisingly didn't take much advantage of. I suppose I was more interested in the sites and soaking it all in.

I could actually picture myself living in New York. As busy and hectic as it may seem, sometimes a small town girl needs to experience something like that. The trip has taught me so much about myself, and that is always a bonus to any adventure. Until next time, New York.
